Sending Logo Files

Vector art is preferred over all other artwork for logo files. If you have one of these files, please send it, even if you cannot open it on your computer.
Vector logos should be sent as an .eps, .ai or .pdf files.
Pixel images should be send as a .tiff, .eps, or maximum quality .jpeg file. Resolution for pixel files should be 600 - 1200 dpi (dots per inch) for B&W or 300 - 600 dpi for color or Greyscale.
Otherwise a crisp oversized black & white print will work.

Types of Logos

This Black and White Logo is easily identified because it is solid with no shades of gray in this type of logo. This logo is usable for virtually any type of print job! In fact it is preferred for most of our standard products. A solid black and white logo is also called a "bitmap logo".

This is a Greyscale Logo. It is not solid black and white, but made up of shades of black and white. It is easy to mistake a Greyscale logo for a solid black and white logo. This logo is usable on most printed products especially if full color printing is offered. If need be, we can usually convert Greyscale logos to solid black & white.

Color Logos may use two or more colors that are not just shades of gray. Color logos are normally used wherever full color (spot or process) printing is offered. It is usually possible to convert a color logo to a Greyscale version, but often difficult to get it from there to a one color edition. If your logo most use specific PMS (pantone matching system) colors make whoever you send it to aware of exactly what colors it uses!

Sending Photo Files

All photos must be 300 DPI minimum (400 dpi preferred) at their anticipated printed size (@ 100%). CMYK is preferred, but we will accept RGB files. Please note that there may be a slight color shift when converting from RGB to CMYK.
Photo images should be send as a .tiff, .eps, or maximum quality .jpeg file.
Photos from digital cameras must be taken at the camera's highest quality setting. Please refer to your camera's documentation. Cameras that are below 2 megapixels may not provide a printable size photo file.
Do not remove images from websites for use, they will only be 72 dpi and may be copywritten. Do not resize or "bump up" low resolution artwork. The results will be poor.

Sending fonts

The availability of thousand of fonts for the Mac and PC have given people a broad variety of fonts for their design work. There are three basic fonts in use today, True-type, OpenType and Postscript:

True-Type Fonts

True-type fonts are used primarily on the PC, but are used on the Mac platform as well. We accept true-type fonts for printing.

Postscript Fonts

Postscript fonts are used primarily on the Mac platform, but are also used extensively on the PC. We accept Postscript fonts for printing. Postscript fonts have two parts - a printer font and a screen font. When sending Postscript fonts, you must include both parts - .pfm and .pfb extensions. We cannot use these fonts if only one part is sent.

OpenType Fonts

OpenType® is a new cross-platform font file format developed jointly by Adobe and Microsoft. The two main benefits of the OpenType format are its cross-platform compatibility (the same font file works on Macintosh and Windows computers), and its ability to support widely expanded character sets and layout features, which provide richer linguistic support and advanced typographic control.

Sending from a Mac

Open your system folder
Open your Fonts folder
Find the True Type or Postscript font(s) and copy them to a New Folder. Find the Suitcase with the screen fonts and copy this to the same folder.
Put the fonts on a disk to mail or attach them to an E-mail.

Sending from a PC

Open your "C:" drive
Open the "Windows" folder (Windows or Winnt)
Open the "Fonts" folder in a reduced size, so you may see your Desktop.
Find the font or fonts you need to send. Do not remove the fonts from this folder! If you do by accident, simply drag them back. Select the fonts while holding down the "CTRL" key on your keyboard, which will highlight them, and drag them to the desktop while holding down the "CTRL" key. You may also choose "edit" and "copy" the fonts, browse back to the desktop and "edit", "paste" them to the desktop.
Put the fonts on a disk to mail or attach them to an E-mail.
