Infinity Graphics is solely owned and operated by Robert W. Schamerhorn. Born in 1961, Bob began drawing and painting almost as soon as he could hold a pencil. He received private drawing lessons as a adolescent and at the age of thirteen, while attending The Virginia Garden Club’s Nature Camp, he also studied wilderness art. He received an Honorable Mention from the Virginia Wildlife Commission for a watercolor entry around 1975. He was selected in 1978 to represent E.C. Glass High School at The Virginia Museum's "Three Days In March Program" in Richmond, Virginia. He attended Virginia Tech (1979-83) in Blacksburg, Virginia and majored in Art and Graphic Design and was Treasurer of the VA Tech Art Club his junior year.

After returning to his hometown of Lynchburg, Virginia, he studied Mechanical Engineering and Drafting at Central Virginia Community College and was later hired as a production artist (1984-1992) by Clifton Studios Inc. This canvas painting production company designed, sold and reproduced artwork to the furniture industry both in the U.S.A. and in Europe. There, he was exposed to almost every style and subject matter of design and painting imaginable. He quickly got involved in the design end of the business and his first design, an oriental wildlife painting, was purchased in quantity by Levits Furniture, a national retail chain. Later, other designs were purchased by J.C. Penny, Haverty’s, Rooms To Go, Grand Piano, and Schewels Furniture chains to name a few. His painting design “Electra” was the top seller for two years running. In 1990, he was promoted to Production Manager of Clifton Studio Inc. and eventually became Design Director before starting work as a Designer and Purchasing Agent for another major art reproduction company owned by Carolina Mirror Company. Years later, he was hired as a Graphic Designer for a local trade show display company and was soon selected for training in computer design and illustration. He quickly discovered the potential this new media had over pencil and paper. After only a few lessons, he began designing trade show displays, doing mechanical drawings as well as designing T-shirts on the computer.

Experience in the audio industry came when he was hired as Manage of the Graphic Arts Department of a local CD & Cassette duplication facility. This is where his love of music and art were joined. This exposed him to the lithograph printing industry, the world of prepress, and the exciting industry of audio duplication and design. That company eventually moved out of state, but Bob stayed put.

In 1996, he was approached to do couple of freelance design projects, this sparked thoughts starting his own company. The following weekend, the right computer at just the right price showed up in the classified ads. So on June 12, 1996, Infinity Graphics was registered as a viable business in Bedford County (a name and logo his brother, David T. Schamerhorn, created almost ten years before as a college design project). It was as if everything in the past had taken place in order for this to begin. And slowly, by word of mouth and return business, the jobs came one after another. Over the years, Infinity Graphics has produced hundreds of packaging and promotional designs for countless musicians and businesses, several of which have won awards. Let me put my experience to work for you too. See the online Design Portfolio.
